A 32-year-old man remanded to judicial custody in an Arms Act case fled from the COVID-19 isolation ward of the district hospital in Rajasthan’s Bundi, police stated on Sunday.

Lakhan Bawari escaped on the intervening night time of Saturday and Sunday, they stated.

Police have launched a manhunt to catch him.

Bawari was arrested beneath the Arms Act on Thursday and produced earlier than the court docket the subsequent day. The court docket despatched him to judicial custody, police official Bannalal stated.

Earlier than being despatched to jail, his pattern was taken for a COVID-19 check and he was admitted to the inmate isolation ward of the district authorities hospital as his report was awaited, he stated.

Police official Lokender Paliwal stated the accused most likely escaped via a window within the ward. Guards have been deployed on the gate of the ward and there have been eight-nine inmates inside.

A case has been lodged towards Bawari and efforts are being made to hint him, he stated.
